One Christmas Eve is about 7 year-old Bella and her Grandpa, and is centered on Melbourne's iconic fun park, Luna Park. We depicted the setting, suburbia St Kilda in 1968, through the colours, decor and fashion from the period, like outdoor furniture, transistor radio, portable BBQ, paddle pool and clothes line from the decade (windows 1 & 6).
The most technically challenging piece of the season was the carousel (window 3), with: 4 rows of horses essential for a realistic replica; a scale that could support this detail, together with horses and figures at a size to suit; and all custom-made mechanics for a fully operational carousel with moving horses.
At window 4, we simulated flying through a series of concurrent, vertical and forward motions programed with sophisticated technology to interpret Bella's imaginary flight on the majestic horse.
