Christmas and over the top displays are almost synonymous! If there was ever a time to display, to “show off” (in the best possible ways), then the Christmas season is that time.

Christmas displays are a “good will” message from the retailer to the public at large and their customers specifically. The display is a celebration of the season, the meaning of the holiday season and a gracious gesture and gift from the retailer to the consumer thus building upon consumer goodwill.

No matter how old we get, we still love to witness (even if only for 6 weeks a year) these Christmas memories brought back and given new interpretations. These visual cues surface childhood memories of good times, the feelings of security, love and joy. as adults we yearn for childhood simplicity and innocence and the opportunity to escape into a fantasy world even if only for a few seconds within the environment. These visual cues, are triggered by, clever and creative techniques of visual influencing and is called “Christmas Atmosphere”. If a retailer succeeds in communicating this Christmas atmosphere effectively to the general public at large, it will succeed in wrapping up potential customers into customers making sub-conscious buying decisions to be apart of that atmosphere.

The Christmas season is a time of tradition, of hearth and home, of fantasy and fun, of children’s dreams coming true and all the stuff those dreams are made of. As adults we hold and cherish our childhood memories of Christmas, and these experiences we wish upon our children.

Creating the truly visible and perceptible Christmas atmosphere is a crucial point, no matter whether the display theme is traditional, modern or even abstract. By combining lights, music, graphics, animation, unique materials, props and decorative’s, Stage One can create custom versions of theatre for the retail stage.
